The Falcons School Year 6 Fiction: Rewriting Your Timed Writing & Prose Prezi
At Falcons Girls we know how technology can help us remember key facts. Use my Prose Style Prezi to help you remember the punctuation and sentence types you should be looking to include in the first 15 lines of a short story.
Task: Please complete the 'Shadowy Noir figure' redraft. Focus on using a varied prose style in the first 15 lines - and make sure you include some personification, too!
Feeling clever? Try making it a non-linear story.
P.S. Don't forget to bring in a tie, hat, coat & beard to shoot our Noir video on Monday!

Year 5 & 6 Holiday Homework

Year 5 have recorded some fab podcasts where they use rhetorical techniques in a radio advert. Listen to them here.
Holiday homework.
Year 5: Write a non-linear story using your suspense skills. You can download another copy of the prompt here from my area at box.net.
Year 6: Last 'audition' challenge; learn Lady Capulet's long speech from Act 1 Scene 3 (page 10). This is your chance to show off your comedic skills. We'll 'audition' (in the loosest sense of the word) on the 27th Feb. Have fun!
P.S. Don't forget to pick out a poem for Book Week - our theme is comic poems, but you may choose anything that you'd love to perform for the class. Listen to the '2008 Poetry Competition Winners Podcast' for inspiration.

Year 5 Writing: Redraft (Thursday 29 January)

Write 1 1/2 sides of A4. Due: Tomorrow.
Don't forget you can learn more about redrafting and non-linear stories at http://www.baldworm.co.uk.
Due: Friday.
Year 5: Spellings & Reading about Non-linear Stories

Tonight's homework comes in two parts:
1. Learn the spellings for next week; don't forget you can make this learning fun by using the games at Spelling City. We love Spelling City: it makes something that can be a bit of a chore into an enjoyble learning experience!
2. Read the short pack on writing Non-linear stories; we'll be studying this in detail tomorrow, and finishing our work on 'spooky' stories by writing non-linear versions of our Frankenstein stories! Further details can be found here
Due: Tomorrow
